2003 These never before seen images are some of the out-pourings of a long period of self sacrifice followed by a short period of self involvement.
Created on the white walls of my new bachelor pad in Upstate New York over a period of just 2 days. They measured from floor to ceiling and corner to corner. Initial!y in charcoal, and then in every chalk pastel in my box.
I presume they’re still there, as I had to paint them over when I returned to the UK the following fall.
Interesting… Max Ernst and Leonora Carrington painted intensive murals in their house in France before he was interned (twice, by the French and then by the Gestapo).

Flattened…. I’ve often wondered how it was that Picasso survived being in Nazi occupation of Paris. Surely he was Hitler’s art enemy No1?
